MTV UNPLUGGED SEASON 2 EP 08-AGNEE

This Pune-based rock band gained much acclaim soon after the 2007 release of their debut self-titled album. Formed in 2006, Agnee is one of the few Indian bands to be signed onto a major record label. They play a highly varied mix of folk-pop and classic rock with smatterings of funk, jazz and Indian classical music. Agnee has composed the theme songs for multiple seasons of MTV India's most popular reality shows, Roadies and Splitsvilla: 'The Roadies Song', 'Aahatein', Raanjhan Yaar Di' and 'Manmaani'. Besides this, the band has featured on Bollywood projects too, having composed the soundtrack to Prakash Jha's Dil, Dosti, Etc. Their acoustic set features unplugged versions of their popular songs for MTV while also paving the way for traditional numbers that they've performed in a classical setting.

MTV Unplugged 2 - Ep 7 - Lucky Ali

Perhaps the only popular singer-songwriter, composer and actor featured on this year's edition of the show, Lucky Ali's haunting ballads hardly need an introduction. His first album Sunoh, launched in 1996, gained much worldwide acclaim and earned him a place among pop music's greatest. The song 'O Sanam' is touted as one of the best indie-pop songs ever, and featured on the MTV Asia charts for a total of 60 weeks. Over the years, Ali has launched 5 more albums, all of which went on to do fairly well critically and commercially. His Bollywood playback career involves collaborations with numerous reputed music directors including Rajesh Roshan, AR Rahman and Vishal-Shekhar, and the song 'Ek Pal Ka Jeena' from the film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai even won him a Filmfare Award for Best Male Singer. For the most part, Lucky Ali's set on MTV Unplugged comprises songs off of his older albums. But it would seem thoroughly incomplete without a sprinkling of his popular film numbers rearranged acoustically.

MTV UNPLUGGED Season 2 Ep 06-Ash King

Ash King -- born Ashutosh Ganguly -- made his Bollywood debut singing 'Dil Gira Dafatan' on AR Rahman's soundtrack for the Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra film Delhi 6. The song afforded him instant fame, and he subsequently went on to work with such popular Bollywood music directors as Amit Trivedi, Himesh Reshammiya and Pritam. Some of his most notable songs include 'Te Amo' from Dum Maaro Dum, 'Aunty Ji' from Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, 'I Love You' from Bodyguard and, more recently, 'Tu Hi Tu' from Oh My God. Ash is probably the only singer on this year's edition of MTV Unplugged who has performed most of his Bollywood music catalogue.

MTV UNPLUGGED Season 2 Ep 05-Kailasa

Kailasa is the 7-piece sufi/ rock project founded by popular Bollywood singer Kailash Kher along with brothers Naresh and Paresh Kamath. Born in Meerut and brought up in Delhi, Kher grew up amidst traditional folk music and, at age 14, left his house in search of a guru to further his musical training. Kher is inspired by such music icons as Pandit Kumar Gandharv, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Pandit Gokulotsav Maharaj and Nusrat Fetah Ali Khan, and is largely a self-taught musician. Kher has performed on over 350 Hindi film soundtracks, sung in over eighteen languages for a number of regional Indian films, and recorded more than 500 radio and television advertising jingles. At MTV Unplugged, Barot's renewed arrangements bring out Kailasa's trademark earthy, folk sensibilities while incorporating elements of modern rock/ pop. The set includes smashing hits from Kailasa's earlier works and their latest effort, the 2012 album Rangeele.
